Camping has always been one of those outdoor activities that engage the whole family. It's a very traditional way of being able to test your wits as well as spending time with your family to get away from the modernity of society. Here are a few nice ways to enjoy camping with your family.
One way is to simply engage in bonding with your family. Maybe all of you can help pitch a tent together to show the ingenuity of the mind on building shelter.
There are other activities like gathering wood to light a nice fire during the nightfall as well as grill marshmallows over the open fire. The good thing about activities like these is you can break up the work into parts and everyone can get involved.
Your young son and daughter will get an excellent hands-on experience learning to survive or at the very least enjoy nature. To wind the day down, you can tell stories with some nice smores and enjoy the darkness of mother nature. You can actually carry some nice conversation because you don't have the distraction of dealing with work, a project or anything like that. Sometimes, this truly brings the family closer because you can give them your undivided attention.
Another great thing about camping is just taking in what nature has to offer. The beautiful scenery and fresh air is just great to get away from the smoke filled cities. Also, it's a good way for each family member to kind of do their own activity where it's swimming in a nice, relaxing pond, hiking to build up a nice sweat, or even testing out some old canoes you have not used yet.
Maybe you can finally test out that new fishing reel and show how to use natural worms as bait to help catch a fish and learn to cook it over a campfire. The experience the kids get will not only be for enjoyment but survival as well as learning how to fend off nature's gifts. There are also some great trails for biking, so you can get that nice high intensity workout. Even a small thing like racing for a smore is very nice way to provide incentive with overlooked activities.
Camping will always provide a very cost effective way to temporarily leave the modern world as well as bring the family closer enjoying the beauty of nature.
